Vamocon 5000

Vamocon 5000

Free choice of switchgear

Power switchgear and controlgear assembly from 630 to 5,000 A according to DIN EN 61439-1/-2.
Supports your power supply when high demands are placed on the safety, reliability and economic efficiency.

Your benefits

1. Freedom

  • VAMOCON 5000 is an independent system for industry and building services.
  • Designed for installing circuit-breakers and fuse strips from ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Efen, Jean Müller and Wöhner.
  • Design verification by testing.
  • Technologically demanding solutions can be realised efficiently.

2. Safety and standards

  • Maximum personnel and assembly safety.
  • Independent design verification tests ensure that the assemblies are constructed in accordance with standards.
  • Testing under conditions of arcing due to internal fault according to IEC/TR 61641:2014.
  • VAMOCON is downward-compatible. This means that already installed VAMOCON assemblies can be easily expanded.
  • Documentation, training and comprehensive customer support service.

3. Digitalisation

  • Continuous 3D development of the kit system.
  • Intuitive VAMOCAD online configurator with reduced complexity, bundled functions and quickly selected device configuration. All required documents, including design verifications, can be immediately downloaded.
  • Digital order processing from the configurator into the SEDOTEC production system.
  • Data output for further processing in E-CAD systems, platforms and marketplaces as well as Building Information Modelling (BIM).

4. Environment and sustainability

  • As a system manufacturer, we’re aware of our special responsibility towards people and the environment. We generally recommend designing switchgear assemblies with reserves. This way you reduce the power losses.
  • Especially when developing a product, we think about how the product can be better used over its lifetime. For the people who assemble, set up, operate, maintain and dismantle it. How much energy is “consumed” by the product. How it can be recycled as completely as possible.
  • For a more sustainable production, we look at the origin of the resources as well as their processing, disposal and transport.
  • Sustainability does not stop at environmental protection and cost efficiency. For us, sustainable production also means giving employees security and keeping them in the company for as long as possible. We embody joy and passion!

Highlights

Arcing Class A (personell protection)

Measures and functions in the VAMOCON system:
  • Fibreglass-reinforced insulation and busbar carriers with arc-fault protection electrodes near the main busbar in the initial and end cubicles prevent the side panels from burning through.
  • Roof plates are screwed on at the front and provide pressure relief.
  • Door closing systems are reinforced.
  • Ventilation openings for the doors are upgraded to IP4X to prevent burning gases from escaping to the front.
Values tested in VAMOCON
Rated voltage Ue
400 V 690 V
Maximum permissible short-circuit current under arcing conditions Ip arc
80 kA 70 kA
Permissible arc duration tarc
300 ms 300 ms
Assembly availability and repair costs:

The assembly is not available after the arc event. The assembly or damaged parts of the assembly must be replaced.

Arcing Class B (personnel and assembly protection)

Measures and features in the VAMOCON system:
  • Fibreglass-reinforced insulation in the initial and end cubicles near the main busbar prevents the side panels from burning through.
  • Roof plates are screwed on at the front and provide pressure relief.
  • Door closing systems are reinforced.
  • Ventilation openings for the doors are upgraded to IP4X to prevent burning gases from escaping to the front.
  • In the vicinity of the main busbar, busbar carriers with arc-fault protection electrodes and fibreglass-reinforced barriers in the separating partitions between the cubicles are used to prevent any arcing from spreading along the main busbar.
Values tested in VAMOCON:
Rated voltage Ue
400 V 690 V
Maximum permissible short-circuit current under arcing conditions Ip arc
80 kA 70 kA
Permissible arc duration tarc
300 ms 300 ms
Assembly availability and repair costs:

The assembly is not available after the arc event. The affected cubicle must be replaced, adjacent cubicles must be checked for damage and cleaned if necessary.

Arcing Class C (personnel and assembly protection with limited operational capability)

Measures and features in the VAMOCON system:
  • Assembly equipped with the DEHNshort arc-fault mitigation system.
  • Current transformers installed in the infeed, with point-shaped light sensors in each cubicle and signals combined in detection devices.
  • In the event of a detected arc event, the extinguishing devices are triggered and a 3-pole metallic short-circuit is initiated on the main busbar, which is switched off by the feeder circuit-breaker.
Values tested in VAMOCON:
Rated voltage Ue
400 V 690 V
Maximum permissible short-circuit current under arcing conditions Ip arc
100 kA 100 kA
Arc quenching time
< 3 ms < 3 ms
Verification by testing that false tripping is prevented in the event of a switching arc caused by the circuit-breaker
yes no
Assembly availability and repair costs:

The assembly is available again within a short time after eliminating the cause of the fault and replacing the extinguishing equipment. As the effects of the arcing are reduced to a minimum, cleaning is not necessary.

The arc-fault mitigation system monitors the assembly even when the switchgear assembly door is open and offers the greatest possible protection for personnel working on the switchgear assembly.

Operating and replacing different module technologies

Module

Plug-in modules for moulded case circuit-breakers (MCCBs) from 160 to 630 A

Steckmodul

For safely and flexibly designing your power distribution even according to the future valid standard DIN EN 61439-2 ED3

Safety

  • Removable part according to DIN EN 61439-2 for high operator safety
  • Integrated forced release ensures that it is only possible to insert or withdraw modules in a load-free condition
  • All around finger-safe design with IPXXB

Flexibility

  • Possible to replace modules under voltage
  • Available as WWD or WFD contacting types for MCCBs from Schneider Electric and Siemens
  • Can be combined with fuse switch-disconnectors from JEAN MÜLLER SASILplus

Forced release mechanisms acting on the circuit-breaker prevent modules from being withdrawn or inserted under load:

  • 1. Plug-in module locked in the cubicle, circuit-breaker can be switched on
  • 2. Plug-in module unlocked in the cubicle, circuit-breaker in tripped-position

Couplers

Couplers in the VAMOCON system are integrated longitudinally into the central main busbar system and installed from the right and left, phase-shifted, at the height of the switch connectors. The spacing between the front and rear busbars, combined with support between them, make the design possible and simultaneously stiffen it.

Our longitudinal couplers are tested up to a short-circuit withstand current (Icw) of 100 kA during one second. Since no complex busbar risers have to be built, and no second cubicle is required, the copper input is reduced by about 120 kg per cubicle compared with a conventional coupler at 3,200 A rated current. The couplers are available up to 5,000 A for 3- and 4-pole main busbar systems.

VAMOCON assemblies adapt to your tasks

Feldgrößen

The system allows forms of internal separation ranging from Form 1 to 4b (DIN EN 61439-2) as well as configurations ranging from free-standing single cubicles and cubicles lined up in rows to corner cubicles (L- and U-shaped) and back-to-back configurations. Two construction heights and a large number of variants enable a wide variety of solutions. Plinths with 100 and 200 mm heights are possible.
